Author Publication Agreement

This agreement applies when a contribution has been accepted for publication in Faith • Civilization • Theology (FCT).

Publication by FCT does not transfer ownership of copyright unless expressly agreed otherwise. Copyright remains with the author or other identified rights holder.

Author confirmation

By approving publication, the author confirms that:

  • they are the author of the contribution or otherwise have authority to approve its publication;
  • the contribution is original except for material properly attributed to other sources;
  • the contribution is not subject to conflicting publication rights or an agreement preventing publication by FCT;
  • any prior conference presentation, working paper, preprint, repository deposit or substantially related publication has been disclosed;
  • quotations, references, factual claims and research data have been checked to the best of the author’s ability;
  • permissions have been obtained for third-party material where required;
  • funding, competing interests, generative-AI assistance and relevant ethics information have been disclosed where applicable;
  • the contribution does not knowingly contain fabricated material, plagiarism, unlawful content, defamatory material or unauthorized disclosure of confidential or private information;
  • and the author has authority to grant the publication rights described below.

Licence to FCT

The author or other rights holder grants FCT a non-exclusive right to:

  • publish the contribution;
  • reproduce and distribute the published version;
  • display it on the journal website;
  • include it in journal issues, archives and metadata records;
  • preserve and maintain the publication record;
  • provide the contribution to legitimate scholarly, repository, indexing, preservation or discovery services where appropriate;
  • and make corrections, amendments, retractions or removal notices in accordance with journal policy.

This licence does not prevent the author from retaining, sharing or reusing their work in accordance with the licence stated on the publication page.

Open-access licence

The reuse licence applying to the contribution will be identified on the individual publication page.

Where a Creative Commons licence applies, reuse is governed by the terms of that licence.

A licence applying to the article does not automatically extend to separately credited third-party material for which different rights or conditions may apply.

Editorial changes

FCT may make routine editorial and copyediting changes, including corrections to grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, formatting, house style, citation style, references, typographical errors and minor objectively verifiable factual or bibliographic matters.

Such changes must not materially alter the author’s argument, interpretation, findings, conclusions or intended meaning without appropriate consultation.

Substantive changes will normally be referred to the author before publication.

Author responsibility

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of their factual claims, quotations, references, research data, interpretations, permissions and disclosures.

Publication by FCT does not constitute endorsement by the journal, Editor, editorial team, reviewers, advisory board members or affiliated institutions of every opinion or conclusion expressed by the author.

Corrections, retractions and removal

FCT may correct, amend, retract, restrict access to or remove material where necessary because of error, plagiarism, duplicate publication, authorship concerns, copyright, privacy, ethics, legal risk, fabricated material or other research-integrity concerns.

Where appropriate, a correction, retraction or removal notice may remain as part of the scholarly record.

Acceptance of this agreement

Acceptance may be recorded through the journal submission system, written email confirmation, electronic acknowledgement or another documented method approved by the journal.

The author should retain a copy of the final accepted manuscript and the publication record for their own files.
